For those of you that already know how AWeber works, you can just skip below to the form fields that you will need.
For everyone else, this is a quick guide on how to set up Double OPT-IN For Download with your AWeber account.
Why is it different from the others?
The simple answer is, AWeber is much more strict when it comes to the opt in process. Mailchimp and Constant Contact allow you to promise that the people you are adding to your list, truly did opt in. Which they did, because DOIFD does not add them until they have verified their email address. To get added to your AWeber list the user must go completely through AWebers process. So I needed to redesign DOIFD a little bit.
What’s different in DOIFD?
The first thing you will notice is that all the email options are gone. All emails are handled through AWeber. Other than that, everything is the same.
How Do I set it up?
Go onto the AWeber website and log into your account and create a list for your new download.
Edit the confirmation email. In the confirmation email let your subscriber know that once they have confirmed their subscription, they will immediately receive another email with their download link.
Go to list options and create the following custom fields
Create a follow up email that will be sent immediately after they have confirmed their email address. Customize it, and at the very least, you need to put the download_url in there. That is the link that will take them back to your website to retrieve their Free download.
Go back to the plugin and make a blank page for your downloads landing page and and put the lab landing page shortcode on it. You can style it later.
Upload your download. When you do this you will see two drop down lists. One is for you to select your AWeber list, the other is for the landing page you would like to use.
Add the generated shortcode to a post or page or use the widget to display the form.
- Style up your landing page and your done!
